Slovakia and Canada have a bilateral Youth Mobility Agreement, known also as Work and Travel Program. There is an annual reciprocal quota and while it gets filled in within minutes on the Slovak side, the number of Canadians coming to Slovakia remains very low. Katka Dojcakova was asked by the Embassy of Slovak Republic to create a video to introduce Slovakia to any Canadians. This video is divided into three small sections: 1) Any basics about Slovakia; 2) Interview with a Canadian living in Slovakia; 3) Working Holiday Program - all the necessary info (Where, What, How much, When, How). For any more info, please visit the website of the bilateral Agreement: http://bit.ly/1iUAslL or at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ottawa, Ontario.

Trafficking in human beings represents the world's third most profitable illegal business after drug and arms trafficking. Human traffickers view their business as any other business with one difference -- people are treated as commodities. Victims face abuse and exploitation and are forced by using inhumane ways and means to make profit for the human traffickers. Those are adopting more and more sophisticated methods as well as more and more deceitful means of attracting new victims. Anyone of us can fall into the trap of human trafficking. The estimates say that every year about 250 thousand people become victims of human trafficking only in Europe. The film presents this alarming issue to the society through real-life stories. The victims -- a man forced to beg in Italy, a woman force...

Vacation travel video about destination Bratislava in Slovakia. Bratislava is located in the heart of Europe and is the capital of Slovakia. It is a city with a long and colourful history and its river location and well conserved old town have made it into an important Danube metropolis. The Old City Hall with its main building, the Jakob House, dates back to the fourteenth century and has three adjoining townhouses. Its inner courtyard with its romantic arcades in Neo Gothic and Neo-Renaissance style, is full of Mediterranean flair. The Gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral is a huge old fortress church that once adjoined the city walls. Its construction took a hundred and fifty years and between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries eleven Hungarian kings and eight royal wives were crowned withi...

Not to be confused with Slovenia. It is surrounded by Austria to the west, Czech Republic to the northwest, Hungary to the south, Poland to the north and Ukraine to the east. Slovakia is a modern democratic country and is a member of the European Union. The main reasons to visit Slovakia are its natural beauty, vivid history and great opportunities for relaxation (and due to the small size of the country, it is quite easy to combine all three). For the same reasons Lonely Planet put it in as number 5 on its Best in Travel 2013 - T...
Take a tour of Bojnice Castle in Bojnice, Slovakia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Slovakia has numerous grand and elaborate castles, one such castle lies in the small central town of Bojnice. This fairy-tale structure is one of the country's most luxurious and ethereal castles, and is appropriately named Bojnice Castle. The castle started out as a wooden stronghold sometime in the eleventh or twelfth century. It has been the subject of copious reconstructions to suit the tastes of its many patrons. The attention this edifice received ensured that it has stayed in superb condition. The immense pine trees and partial moat of Bojnice Castle provides a truly angelic setting.
Slovakia is the 'It' destination for 2013, as the famous tourist guide Lonely Planet named it one of the 10 countries worth visiting next year. Katarina Richterova asked directly at Lonely Planet why put Slovakia in the tourist spotlight now. ©/℗ 2012 - Radio Slovakia International - http://www.rsi.sk/
Midsummer has always been a big affair in Sweden and this year was big. Having missed a flight and a train to Falun, I was tired and hungry. Yet the familiar smell and sight of my mom-in-law, her home, my favourite pie of Broccoli and potatoes warm on the table, rejuvenated me completely. I ate up three quarters while Lisbeth talked on. She said they predict rain and thunderstorm for the Midsummer. Between the big mouthfuls, I murmured, they can be wrong sometimes and Lisbeth concurred. And true, much to the delight of millions of Swedes, the sun shone strong on the Midsummer eve celebrations and also few days afterwards. As I gathered with many others to celebrate the biggest Swedish festival, it struck me that as we become more modern, people long for tradition. I have never seen so ...
